Can't become Mercenary. Hello all, I have begun my first playthrough and for some reason every single noble on the northern empire when I ask to become a mercenary it says "must have - 10 relation" and even after doing a quest for 2 of the Nobles I still can't become a mercenary. I was a mercenary for them before this and all was well.Renown will be earned by your character as you progress through the Mount&Blade games. Your character's renown is basically how well known they are throughout Calradia or Eastern Europe. The other lords and rulers also have renown, which over time, assuming you are relatively successful, you will surpass. Not sure how it works with hiring them though playing as a mercenary myself at the moment.Without modding and using your imagination, just sign up as a mercenary and fight as a one man unit in the army.
