The original 70's rock style of the arrangements in this recording, are to me just perfect. JC Superstar was a product of the 1960's generation, and it was rather a surprise that the generation of "sex, drugs, rock-and-roll' suddenly started paying attention to Jesus, albeit in an unconventional manner.
Jesus Christ Superstar – Original Australian Cast Recording was released by MCA in 1972 with English and other cast members performing vocals for a studio recording. A documentary of the production was broadcast on national TV, it contained footage of performances and interviews with cast members.
I am a huge fan of Jesus Christ Superstar- I own the DVD from the 70s with Ted Neeley and have the Original Concept Album, which I love to death. This recording isn't worth buying unless you are a die hard fan like me and you are interested in the sound. Most of the singers cast are not nearly as good as others who have been recorded.
