It replaces the hub because Apple needs additional auth chip and the hub provides more power to avoid phones from discharging. AIO is a hack someone wrote based on reverse engineered Auto protocol. Yikes that sounds really bad when I got my Mazda 3 the middle touch screen wasn't working and thankfully it was covered by the warranty. I think a solution that is cheaper to fix is to just buy the android auto/car play module and install it on your car ($500 if you want to install it at the dealership) .
